On April 24, 2025, a group of students from Okazaki Junior High School Affiliated to Aichi University of Education visited the International Research Center for Neurointelligence (WPI-IRCN) at the University of Tokyo.
At their school, each student engages in a three-year independent research project, choosing a theme to explore in depth. This visit was part of a student’s project under the theme “Learning Through Neuroscience,” during which they gave a presentation on brain function to IRCN researchers.
Following the presentation, Dr. Yuichi Makino, Project Lecturer at IRCN, who conducts cutting-edge research on the neural basis of higher brain functions such as attention and memory using mice, provided thoughtful feedback. He also introduced his own research in a comprehensible way, which inspired the students and deepened their interest in neuroscience.
The students demonstrated impressive curiosity, analytical thinking, and a genuine passion for learning and discovery. This visit was a meaningful opportunity to connect with the next generation and inspire future scientific exploration.
