On July 14, Dr. Yukiko Gotoh, Deputy Director and Principal Investigator at the International Research Center for Neurointelligence (WPI-IRCN), The University of Tokyo, attended the 116th Japan Academy Prize Award Ceremony held at the Japan Academy Hall on June 27, 2026. Dr. Gotoh is also a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, The University of Tokyo.

The ceremony was held in the presence of His Majesty the Emperor, where Dr. Gotoh received the Imperial Prize and the Japan Academy Prize.

Following the ceremony, Dr. Gotoh introduced her research to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, Her Imperial Highness Princess Aiko, Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince and Crown Princess Akishino, and Her Imperial Highness Princess Kako.
