Dr. Yoko Yazaki-Sugiyama, IRCN Affiliated Faculty (OIST Professor), has received the 39th (2024) Nakaakira Tsukahara Memorial Award. Her research on “Neural mechanisms of vocal learning during developmental critical periods” was highly acclaimed. Upon the award ceremony during the 48th Annual Meeting of the Japan Neuroscience Society (July 24, 2025 in Niigata), the lecture on “Learning to vocalize by socially communicating with others” was given by her with honor.
The Tsukahara Memorial Award is administered by the Brain Science Foundation, which promotes neuroscience and supports researchers. It is presented to junior researchers who have conducted outstanding and original research in the field of life sciences.
